Hello 👋 , and welcome to the blog income report: October 2023 edition.
October: The month loaded with festivities, significant blog changes, and much traveling (more to come in December)
Also, October set us back a few hundred dollars since the last income report, but I know for a fact that this deficit is nothing compared to what happened to sites that HCU severely hit.
This might be the sole reason for last month’s lack of income reports.
I have seen bloggers making about $2k-$3k as ad revenue, which went down to around $200-ish for October.
Scary!
Regardless, It was a fairly good month as far as income goes without much involvement from my end (again, cuz I was traveling)
Table of Contents
The Income Breakdown For October: $24,215.57
SOURCE | AMOUNT |
Mediavine Ad Income | $21,553.17 |
Affiliate Income | |
– Proofread Anywhere | $796.4 |
– Impact | $1866 |
TOTAL | $24,215.57 |
Affiliate numbers went down, and there has been a very low conversion rate for a particular affiliate program, like 3 to 5 conversions from 2k to 4k link clicks.
It might be because that particular affiliate product is sorta expensive for someone to make that kind of purchase, or maybe because their lead funnel hasn’t been updated since 2010.
Either way, I’m willing to replace the same if I find a legit replacement with a better sales funnel.
Mediavine brought $21,553 in ad income (89% of total revenue generated), which means around $218,372.42 in lifetime Mediavine earnings till Oct 2023.
Oh my… that’s like 20% of a million dollars!
The average blog RPM was about $78.58 (down $2.23), anticipating the dip since many companies operate on a quarterly budget cycle that fluctuates when it moves from one quarter to another (oct being the start of the last quarter)
Mediavine does share a projected RPM for every month across most niches and shows what months tend to get higher numbers.
Speaking of Mediavine, I just got invited to be an exclusive partner of Mediavine Pro, which I have been expecting for some time now.
Feels like I got a promotion!
The only criteria to get an invite is to make over $100k just with ads in the last 12 months, which was met on Oct 2023, and I got the invite mail on 1 Nov.
I love timely things (unlike this income report, haha sorry)
There are a plethora of perks and benefits that I’m excited about, which come with being a part of something so exclusive.
Perk number 1: You’ll be able to apply for Mediavine for your other sites at a much lower traffic threshold than others (25k sessions compared to the general 50k sessions in the last 30 days), as you have already proven yourself that you can build and sustain a website.
I have five other baby sites and look forward to bringing each into Mediavine one at a time.
Another bonus: Base revenue share for the publisher jumps to 85% from the general 75%, and it can go up to a maximum of 90% for the pro publishers, depending on ad impressions and loyalty bonuses.
Some additional bonuses include a dedicated support team, a private Facebook group for Pro members, and more on the way.
My goal is to get at least two other websites into the network before 2024 ends, and it will be comparatively easy for me to do so as the threshold traffic is low (halved) for pro users.
Blog Expenses for October 2023
SOURCE | AMOUNT |
Blog Hosting + CDN | $34.95 + $17 |
Email Service Provider | $79 |
Canva Pro | $12.95 |
Semrush | $119.95 |
Ahrefs Subscription | $199 |
TOTAL | $462.85 |
Expenses stand the same at $462.85, but I feel like I haven’t been using Ahrefs and Semrush as much, considering how much I’m paying for the services.
So I’ve decided to put a pause on Semrush (as I do use Ahrefs from time to time, but not Semrush at all)
So the Net Profit for this blog turns out to be ($24,215.57- $432.85), which is:
$23,752.72
(down 8.87% since last month)
On the fence about starting your own blog?
Building a personal brand online not only helps you build a steady source of income but also helps you in all sorts of not-so-direct ways, such as:
- High-income potential (a lot of established bloggers make over $100,000 a month)
- You leverage your blog to help your existing business
- Building a like-minded community
- You don’t need any technical or coding knowledge prior to starting a blog.
- Starting a blog is cheap (about $2.95 a month)
- You can create your blog on any topic you like or are passionate about, ANYTHING!
- Create a passion project under your own name ( Example: yourname.com, I have another blog other than this, which is in my name, sayanneogie.com)
- What do you have to lose? (Other than those $2.95/month, a cup of coffee is more expensive than this.)
Here’s how to start your own blog in 10 minutes:

Traffic Stats:
October, being the start of Q4, received a decent amount of traffic, though not as much as September, though these numbers are really one of the best I’ve gotten so far.
Major Traffic source: Pinterest
Over 15 million pin impressions, converting to more than 238k outbound clicks to this website.
But wait till you hear how many times I’ve pinned last month (new or any in general)
any guesses?
- Four pins a day?
- Twice a day?
- Seven times a week?
The answer is: ZERO!
NO pinning, and still, this site received over 238k clicks from the platform. This begs the question, is pinning every single day really necessary?
Does pinning only a few times throughout the week do the same trick? Is there a thing such as pinning efficiency? Or pinning minimalism?
The truth is, there is no way of knowing what will work.
I used to pin a lot of formats, styles, texts, and images to test things out when I was starting, and then I repeated the strategies that showed results.
This exact technique has been repeated for years and has proven to establish a cumulative effect on the traffic, so not pinning for a month didn’t affect my reach so much.
Well, the topic of Pinterest is a whole other discussion I can talk about at length.

Blog Updates:
The homepage of this website was updated to give it a more modern, minimal aesthetic rather than the big, bumpy circular icons in the previous design.
In other news, I have resumed making content for my second website and built a good front page for site 5.
These are the two sites that are more likely to apply for Mediavine in 2024 (fingers double crossed)
The second site shows $0 because of the removal of Adsense ads, not reactivating those ever.
Site | Niche | Traffic | Income |
---|---|---|---|
1. Prosmartrepreneur | Finance & Business | 270k (S) | $24,215 |

That’s it for the October 2023 income report!
See ya next month!
Cheers!
Hi,Sayan. Congratulations. As a new blogger, can I get your guidance? Is your Pinterest strategy still working? How long and how many Pins do you think it will take to get traction on Pinterest?
PS: I started a Home Niche blog last month. I’ve posted over 100 Pins on Pinterest, but I’ve had almost no impressions or clicks.
Is this normal for a new account?
Hi Sayan, is there everything OK? You did’t write a blog post for Income report November 2023…
